about

Want to know what those toy bears are really doing on the King’s
Highway? This song tells you!
P.S. Kenny Koala is an ACT policing mascot used to help educate kids in schools.

lyrics

I was born a circus bear, I loved the crows to hear them roar
But in my hearty I knew that there was more!
I’d run away, become a ranger, and study hard, I’d go to school,
I’d rescue baby bears from danger too.

One stormy night I saw a sign “recruiting bears to watch in trees,
no matter if the weather rain or freeze.”
Next morning while the circus slept, I packed my bag, it seemed so small.
I hugged my friends and crept away to call
“Kenny Koala, Kenny Koala!” Recruiting now!

Who are we, who are we, who are we?
We’re bears of the King’s Highway.
We watch by night and day.
We’re proud to say that we’re the band
Who guard the road throughout the land.

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees, we tramped and trekked we climbed and crawled,
We trained until our aching bones were sore!
We’re bears of every walk and station, black and brown, the young and old,
We’re eager to defend the nations’ roads.

From Bateman’s Bay to Bungendore,
Mullewa to Mingenew, there’s bears and there’s the odd gorilla too!
When day is done, I pack my dilly, shimmy down without a care
I tramp away and boil a billy where?
Pooh Corner, Pooh Corner, for scones and tea.

Who are we, who are we, who are we?
We’re bears of the King’s Highway.
We watch by night and day.
We’re proud to say that we’re the band
Who guard the road throughout the land.

Who are we, who are we, who are we?
We’re bears of the King’s Highway.
We watch by night and day.
We’re proud to say that we’re the band
Who guard the road throughout the land.
